Small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) operating in waste minimisation and waste management in Limpopo are invited to apply for the second round of the Limpopo Industrial Symbiosis Green Enterprise Equipment Grant which provides equipment support of up to R130,000 per qualifying business.

The initiative is implemented by the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC) in partnership with the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) and is designed to help eligible businesses acquire machinery and equipment that responds directly to their operational needs, whilst enhancing circular economy objectives.

The second call follows the first implementation of the initiative in 2025, through which five beneficiaries received equipment valued at R70,000 each. The beneficiaries included businesses and a community-based cooperative working across areas such as biomass energy, e-waste recycling, glass recycling and waste management.

Who can apply?

The call is open to SMMEs that meet the following requirements:

  • The business must be a registered legal entity.
  • The business must have been in operation for more than six months at the time of application.
  • The business must be based in Limpopo province.
  • The business must be involved in waste minimisation or waste management.
  • The business may operate in any industry or sector, provided its activities fall within the waste minimisation or waste management scope of the programme.

What support is available?

Successful applicants may receive equipment with a maximum value of R130,000 per qualifying business.

Applicants will be required to identify the machinery and/or equipment they require as part of their application and explain how the equipment will address a specific business need and support their waste minimisation or waste management activities.

No cash or direct funding support is available, and the equipment will be purchased by the NCPC and transferred to the successful applicants.

Selection process

Applications will be assessed after the closing date of 1 September 2026.

The selection committee will consider applications against the programme's approved eligibility and selection criteria, including the applicant's business needs, the relevance of the requested equipment to its waste minimisation or waste management activities, and the information and quotations submitted.

Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection or the funding of equipment. A limited number of qualifying applicants will be selected for support through the programme's approved selection process.

Applications

Interested businesses should complete the online application form no later than 1 September 2026.
