Who should attend and why?

The workshop is aimed at all industry players in the waste management space or business in waste economy sector. The interactive workshop session, facilitated by international guest speakers James Woodcock and Dr Olamide Ogontoye will enable knowledge sharing among industry players on their experiences in waste economy agenda, for upscaling purposes. The workshop will equip and inspire industry players to be more innovative with waste resources and expand their green businesses. Regional African Case studies from the NCPCs Ghana and Uganda will also be presented.

Background

Over the past years, the National Cleaner Production Center South Africa, a programme of the Department of Trade Industry and Competition (the dtic) in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) have been working on Gauteng Industrial Symbiosis with the following objectives:

  • Promote and facilitate the implementation identified synergy opportunities to achieve resource efficiency and cleaner production,
  • To drive industrial symbiosis awareness raising to the manufacturing sectors in the province,
  • To drive industry capacity building on industrial symbiosis application/practice(s),
  • Play advisory role to various planning platforms and policy reforms to accommodate industrial symbiosis application.
