03 December – Establishment of the Mpumalanga Circular Economy Cluster

The National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa (NCPC-SA) in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT), cordially invite you to participate in a workshop to formalise the establishment of the Mpumalanga Circular Economy Cluster.

The workshop aims to establish a cluster that can provide the collaboration, opportunity identification, capacity building and competitiveness improvements required for a Just Transition.

A Just Transition is a concept that is being used or implemented by organisations and industry to ensure economic and environmental benefits from any climate mitigation in the transition towards green economy or low economy. In Mpumalanga it focuses more on green economy and measures to ensure that Eskom power stations don’t shut down and jobs are saved to improve lives of workers.

Agenda items to be covered include:

  • A status update on the Cluster and its initiatives
  • Terms of Reference for the Cluster
  • Member sign-up and selection of representatives and Chairpersonship

BACKGROUND

The Mpumalanga Green Economy Cluster works towards building an economic environment that is resilient, adaptive, and responsive to both needs and opportunities within the Mpumalanga province. It will seek participation from various sectors, including business, government, and academia, and will be a platform that will encourage and provide insight and guidance on the circular economy.
