08 December – Promoting the Circular Economy in the Textile and Garment Sector
Project Stakeholder Endorsement Workshop

Please join us at our project stakeholder endorsement workshop which aims to present and discuss the CEO endorsement document for final approval and submission to the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

This UNIDO-developed initiative aims to promote the circular economy in the textile and garment value chain, and the National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa (NCPC-SA) will execute the activities in South Africa to complement rollout within the other regional project countries of Lesotho and Madagascar.

Involving public-private partnerships and international brands, it addresses the GEF 7 areas of preventing waste/products containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and hazardous chemicals from entering material recovery supply chains.

The local textile and garment sector contribute significantly to the national economy and is one of the priority sectors identified in the industrial policies of South Africa. The priority focus areas for the project involves the reduction of POPs on human health and the environment, waste management as well as water and energy consumption.

The participation of all key stakeholders at this workshop is therefore imperative to finalise the CEO endorsement document, and your involvement in this workshop and commitment to conclude the preparatory phase will be highly appreciated.
