The NCPC-SA conducted a comprehensive waste assessment and identified an opportunity to recover 1 000 tonnes of waste whey sludge. The assessment investigated Meze Foods’ whole production process, including identifying areas of inefficiencies in terms of waste generation. The collected sludge serves as a valuable input for Khepri Biosciences’ bioconversion process, where it is transformed into insect protein, feed oils and fertiliser.
