Gender Assessment Tool for Industrial Spaces Workshop – Isithebe IP

The National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa (NCPC-SA), in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), will host a workshop to support industrial spaces and tenant companies in assessing and enhancing gender equality practices in their organisations.

Gender equality in industrial development is an essential component of sustainable and inclusive growth. UNIDO has developed a Gender Self-Assessment Tool to support industrial spaces, tenant companies, and other stakeholders. The tool helps to identify gaps in gender equality, provides guidance on best practices, and promotes policies that foster equal opportunities for all genders in industrial settings.

This workshop aims to empower participants to use the UNIDO-GEIPP Gender Self-Assessment Tool effectively.

Workshop objectives

• Familiarisation: To introduce the UNIDO-GEIPP Gender Self-Assessment Tool to the participants and explain its purpose, features, and the importance of gender equality in industrial settings.
• Practical Application: To provide a detailed walkthrough of how to use the self-assessment tool, including how to assess gender-related policies and practices in tenant companies and industrial parks.
• Identifying Gaps: To guide participants in identifying key areas where gender equality gaps may exist within their companies or industrial parks.
• Action Plan Development: To help participants develop action plans based on the findings of gender self-assessment, setting concrete steps to improve gender equality.
• Knowledge Sharing: To encourage knowledge sharing between tenant companies and industrial parks regarding best practices for promoting gender equality and fostering a more inclusive workplace.
