3 March 2026 – Invitation to Industrial Spaces as Sustainable Energy Hubs Event at the Africa Energy Indaba

South Africa’s G20 commitments and national decarbonisation priorities present a strategic opportunity to deepen collaboration between energy policy, industrial development and climate action. The industrial sector remains central to economic growth, yet it is also energy-intensive and carbon-exposed. Strengthening energy resilience and accelerating the transition to low-carbon industrial systems are therefore critical to maintaining competitiveness, supporting exports and safeguarding jobs.

The National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa (NCPC-SA) will host a side event titled Industrial spaces as sustainable energy hubs – The potential and challenges of leveraging industrial parks, SEZs and IDZs in a sustainable energy mix at the upcoming Africa Energy Indaba (AEI).

The side event will also align with the objectives of the G20 Sustainable Industrialization Hubs (SIH) Coalition, a collaborative platform advancing low-carbon, resource-efficient and climate-resilient industrial development, and provide a high-level platform to:

  • Unpack South Africa’s G20-aligned commitments in the energy and industrial sectors.
  • Showcase practical implementation through flagship projects.
  • Strengthen collaboration between government, development partners and industry.
  • Position sustainable industrialisation as a central pillar of Africa’s energy transition.
