The South African manufacturing industry is being assessed on its progress towards environmental sustainability and efficiency, particularly as the country is facing new carbon emission caps.

As the world moves towards more sustainable and eco-friendly practices, companies are being pressured to reduce their carbon footprint and adopt green technologies. This is important not only to tackle the environmental impact of industrial activities but also to remain competitive in the changing global market.

Join the National Cleaner Production Centre, South Africa (NCPC-SA) in partnership with the African Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ARSCP) on 23 March 2023 at the CSIR ICC to discuss the progress of South African industries towards environmental sustainability and efficiency as carbon caps loom.

The event is a part of the second edition of the highly successful NCPC-SA Colloquium series, which brings together experts, policymakers, and business leaders to discuss cutting-edge ways to lessen the carbon footprint of industrial activities.

“The South African government is expected to implement stricter regulations and penalties for non-compliant industries in the near future. Therefore, if the South African industry is to achieve Net Zero and transition to a Just Energy system, it must prioritise sustainability and efficiency,” says NCPC-SA innovation and strategy manager, Lee-Hendor Ruiters.

According to Ruiters, the colloquium will give stakeholders a forum for idea exchange, networking, and collaboration in the pursuit of a more sustainable future.

The current environmental sustainability and efficiency of South African industries, the effects of carbon emission caps on industries and the broader economy, best practices and case studies from other nations and sectors, and opportunities for innovation and investment in green technologies are just a few of the major subjects that will be covered.
