The National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC), in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Environment (GDEnv), has opened applications for the Gauteng Industrial Symbiosis Green Enterprise Equipment Grant, providing eligible small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in Gauteng with access to equipment support of up to R96,600 per qualifying business.

The grant is aimed at supporting businesses whose operations contribute to waste minimisation, waste management, climate change mitigation or adaptation, cleaner production and resource efficiency.

Through the grant, eligible businesses will be supported towards the procurement of machinery and/or equipment that addresses a specific operational need within their businesses to strengthen their green economy activities.

Who can apply?

  • Be South African citizens.
  • Be registered business entities that are currently operational.
  • Be physically located and conduct business within Gauteng.
  • Qualify as an SMME in accordance with applicable South African regulations; and

Applicants will also need to provide information about their business’s waste minimisation or waste management activities, climate change mitigation/adaptation, cleaner production and resource efficiency activities, as well as a description of the machinery or equipment required, and the business need it will address.

Applications close on 21 September 2026

Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection or funding. Only a limited number of qualifying businesses will be selected for support, subject to the programme’s approved selection process and available resources. No cash or direct funding support is available, and the equipment will be purchased by the NCPC and transferred to the successful applicants.
