Project Manager, NCPC
Andre has been a Project Manager at the NCPC-SA for more than 18 years, focusing primarily on the Clothing, Textiles, Footwear and Leather sector. He has extensive experience in assisting companies to adopt resource efficient and cleaner production, lifecycle management and other sustainability interventions.
Prior to joining the NCPC, Andre worked in the clothing and textile sector for almost 20 years. His previous role as Raw Material Quality Manager required extensive knowledge of development of procedures, supplier development, customer relations, planning and production.
Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS)
EIize holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Development and Management from Stellenbosch University and has been working actively in promoting the Sustainability Agenda in Africa for more than 15 years in the role of Sustainability Specialist. Her expertise is in Circularity, Green Economy Policy, Climate Finance, Decarbonization Strategies, Just Transition and Gender Lens Investing. She conducted a decarbonisation strategy for the Textiles, Footwear and Leather sector for South Africa, under the Trade Industrial Policy Strategies for the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic)
Resource & Innovation Manager, NCPC
Lee-Hendor fulfills the role of portfolio manager as a part of the NCPC-SA management team. He is responsible for business development, innovation and policy initiatives in RECP and SCP aimed at supporting the strategic objectives of the Centre.
He represents the NCPC-SA in various leadership roles on local and international platforms and initiatives. In this respect, he champions the Centre’s activities on eco-industrial parks, circular economy and eco-innovation initiatives and works closely with UNEP on Africa region policy mainstreaming and supporting SME’s.
Director Brits Nonwoven
Dicky Coetzee is a Textile Technologist specialising in Technical, Military and Speciality Textile Innovation products.
He has 44 years’ experience in specialty and high-tech fabric manufacture – mainly woven, non-woven and multi axial.
He has been involved in the design and writing of Private Specifications for fabrics designed for personal equipment, uniforms, parachutes, automotive airbags, workwear and protective fabrics for Fire and Ballistic protection. He has also been involved in the design and development of nonwoven and reinforcing products for insulation, agriculture and acoustic end use applications.
He worked as the CEO of Gelvenor Textiles from 1980 to 2018 and then as CEO of Brits Nonwoven from 2018 to 2023.
He is currently consulting and working on projects for Textile Recycling, Carbon Credits and Circular Economy Proposals for the Textile Industry.

Zero Discharge for Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)
As Implementation Manager Claudia is part of the ZDHC Academy Team, supporting the evolution of the ZDHC Academy workplan. She focuses in particular on capacity building projects related to Climate Change and she drives ZDHC implementation projects across different regions. Next to that, Claudia also takes the lead in organising Academy related events.
Claudia has a bachelor degree in European Studies and a Master of Science in International Business Administration. She previously worked at a fashion brand for 12 years where she held different positions, of which the last three years as sustainability project manager with focus on environmental sustainability. Claudia joined the ZDHC Foundation in June 2022.

Chief Impact Officer at BluWin
Works closely with the global fashion value chain Dr. Siva Pariti is a chemical expert and sustainability consultant who has been advising textile, footwear, and leather industries over the last 20 years. He has been involved in the development of the Fairtrade Textile Standard, the ZDHC CMS Technical Industry Guide, and HIGG FEM 3.0 Technical Guidance.
Siva collaborates with multiple industry stakeholders, including international fashion brands and retailers; textile mills; manufacturers; ternaries; multi stake holder Organisations and NGOs. He also leads in research and innovation projects that focus on clean chemistry, process excellence, regenerate by design, zero discharge of hazardous chemicals, and climate-positive initiatives.
CARES
Zubeida Zwavel is the executive director of the Centre for African Resource Efficiency and Sustainability (CARES) based in South Africa. The NGO aims to support companies by creating awareness and giving access to sustainability mechanisms and furthering women’s roles within sustainable business.
Mrs Zwavel has an MBA from the University of Twente (Cum Laude) and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from CPUT. She has worked extensively with organisations such as UNEP, UNIDO, NCPC, and national governmental departments to drive sustainable consumption and production within private and public sectors. Zubeida has 23 years international experience in Sustainable Business, spearheading implementation projects in over 300 companies and organisations in all manufacturing and commercial sectors with extensive experience in the textile industry
Her work in the Textiles sector began in 2009 focusing on the fabric and textile waste in the region conducting a feasibility analysis on recycled textile fibres. The evolution of sustainability and Circular economy remains a challenge for companies and helping companies on this journey has been her key focus. Currently her work with UNEP in the InTex project has expanded to identifying sustainable and circular business models to Clothing and Textile companies. (https://www.unep.org/intex).
Continued Resource Efficiency work has led to her broadening into life cycle management programmes in the textile supply chains working with companies in India and China to identify sustainable sourcing opportunities.

ICLEI Africa
Kiera Crowe Pettersson is a senior professional officer for ICLEI, overseeing components of the organisations circular economy portfolio. Further, she is a strategic advisor for the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN). As a representative of ACEN she sits on various technical and steering committees, including for the African Circular Economy Alliance; AfDB; and Chatham House. Above this, she is co-founder and head of projects for Big Circle Studios. Through each of these engagements she is firmly rooted in and dedicated to the implementation and expansion of circular economy in Africa and the globe.
