The dtic
Thami Klassen is the Director of Economic Infrastructure & Logistics at the dtic – responsible for Industrial Parks, facilitation of investment and development of state and privately owned industrial parks, and development of Township & Rural Economy initiatives. He has also worked extensively on packaging bankable business cases for designation of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in several provinces
Prior to joining the dtic, he studied Extractive Metallurgy and Business Management, worked for Anglo American Corporation (AAC) and Rand Gold Refineries Mines (RM3). He established and operated his own companies, Umzantsi Creative Solutions and Welela Africa for 10 years, offering various services in ICT, call centres, mobile telecommunication products and tourism consulting services. He is a founder member of Soweto Tourism Development Association (Sotoda) and Joburg Big 5 Company.
He is responsible for national roll out of the revitalisation programme of state owned industrial parks. His work entails facilitation of collaborative partnerships amongst government and private business stakeholders for the implementation of Spatial Industrial Development Strategy – pursuant to sustainable and inclusive economic development, especially in townships and rural communities. He serves on the Board structures of state owned SEZs and on the infrastructure Adjudication Committee of the dtic.

Policy lead, Alliance for Water Stewardship, Scotland
Dr Faith Lawrence is Head of Policy Engagement at the global Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS). Prior to joining AWS, she was the Country Coordinator for GIZ’s International Water Stewardship Programme and the Natural Resources Stewardship Programme in South Africa. She served on the Reimagined Industrial Parks steering group and co-chair the national Strategic Water Partners Network water stewardship working group. Faith has spent most of her career working in development cooperation, with a focus on governance, institutional strengthening, multi-stakeholder partnerships and water stewardship.

Reem Mahmoud Abdel Aziz is a Senior Advisor for Business Development Services and Certified Sustainable Industrial Areas Management Expert at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and holds a Master of International and Development Economics from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) Berlin, Germany.
Her areas of expertise include but are not limited to designing and managing international development projects related to sustainable industrial areas management, Business Development Services promotion, access to financial and non-financial services for MSMEs, providing strategy and policy support to governments to adapt “investor friendly” industrial policies and practices.
For over 22 years of work experience in multinational organizations, Reem has designed the content and managed the implementation of numerous development projects (including technical assistance and advisory services) to governmental, international, and local private organizations in both Egypt and international context.

UNIDO
Rana Pratap Singh holds a PhD in Water Resources from BOKU Vienna, Austria. Currently, he serves as an Industrial Development Officer at UNIDO Vienna, a position he has held since 2007. With over 25 years of extensive experience in project and program management within the industrial sector, Mr. Singh is adept at planning and executing initiatives.
His expertise encompasses various facets of project management, including conceptualization, analysis, prioritization, goal identification, activity and milestone setting, strategy development, monitoring, and reporting. Proficient in designing Theory of Change (ToC), Result-Based Management (RBM), Resource-Based Budgeting (RBB), and Logical Frameworks, he also provides advisory services and technical support.
Relating his work scope, Mr. Singh excels in policy formulation, needs assessment, causal and impact analysis, environmental and social safeguards, climate change measures, green employment, stakeholder participation, decentralization, governance reform, knowledge management, sustainability assurance, and exit strategies. He possesses proven decision-making skills, adept at risk visualization, knowledge retention, and institutionalization for sustainability.
Having worked in diverse country contexts, including those facing extreme poverty, conflict, post-conflict recovery, least developed nations, developing countries, economies in transition, newly industrializing countries, and emerging markets, Mr. Singh brings invaluable insights to his roles. He is experienced in domestic resource mobilization (DRM), external resources, and maximizing finance for development (MFD) through initiatives such as foreign direct investment (FDI).
His professional engagements span collaborations with prominent organizations such as the World Bank, UNDP, Asian Development Bank, European Union, and various international and non-governmental organizations. Additionally, Mr. Singh has contributed to the field through manual authorship, report preparation, research paper publications, lecture delivery, and paper presentations, earning recognition for his exceptional contributions to the field.

Nisasia is a project associate with the Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. She is responsible for developing gender tools to assist industrial parks and companies achieve gender equality goals. Nisasia graduated from the University of Vienna with a major in International Development Studies, with a special focus on Gender and Political Economy.
